About Us

Celergo’s roots can be traced back to the late 1990s when co-founder, Michele Honomichl, launched her first company specializing in the development of expatriate administration software.  With the ever increasing globalization of businesses, it became clear that global businesses are plagued with inefficient processes that make it difficult to process payments on a global scale.  It was this void in the industry that propelled Founders, Michele Honomichl and Bert Brown, to launch Celergo in 2004.

Having met while pursuing their MBAs at Indiana University, Michele and Bert came up with the idea for Celergo to create a faster, better way to pay expatriates and local employees.   To reinforce this brand promise, they chose the name ‘Celergo’ (pronounced sa-lehr- go), which is derived from the two Latin words meaning “swift payment”.

In eight short years, Celergo has grown to have four global offices in Chicago, London, Singapore, and most recently, Budapest.  Along with the breakneck pace of growth, Celergo has been a recognized as one of the fastest growing companies by Inc Magazine and named one of the United States Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.
